All vital records obtained are certified copies. No photo copies are available.
Records are only available for deaths that occurred in Dickinson County from 1891-Present. Records prior to 1891 are on file with Menominee County and/or the State of Michigan Vital Records Office.

Who can request this record?
Dickinson County Death Certificates are available to the public by request.

How are requests made?
Requests for death certificates can be made in person, by mail, or via fax.

What is needed for application?

  • Name of person requesting certificate
  • Requestor’s mailing address (if applicable)
  • Name of decedent
  • Year of death*
  • City of death*

How much does this record cost?

  • $20.00 - one certified copy
  • $15.00 - each additional certified copy of same record
  • $5.00 – 10 year search
  • If you don’t know the year of death or where the death occurred a clerk can perform a Records’ Search. The cost is $5 per decade to be searched. 
Methods of payment accepted:
  • Cash
  • Local Dickinson County check (no Out of County checks)
  • Money orders

How long does it take to receive the certificate?
Requests made in person are processed while you wait and the birth certificate is issued immediately. Requests through the mail are processed the same day they are received and the birth certificate is sent out immediately. All other requests are processed once payment has been received.
