Lake Antoine Park Partners
This 501(c)3 organization was formed in 2017 by the county board with the mission to preserve, improve, promote and protect Lake Antoine Park in Dickinson County, Michigan, for the use and benefit of the general public. On the non-partisan board, two county commissioners and seven (7) volunteer citizens are seated for three (3) year terms. Two members of the local Youth Advisory Council attend meetings to offer their input.
Volunteer projects have been Work Bees to get the park ready for campers to enjoy the sites, free weekend movies for campers and park patrons, raising funds and seeking grants for projects including working with local Girl Scouts to spruce up our trashcans, the 2018 start of a Beach Rehab, 2019 environmental stations for recycling beverage containers and having dog stations for waste baggies, and the 2020 start of a Wifi Cafe for park patrons. In the spring of 2021, the boat landing kiosk was gutted and renovated to provide information to anglers and recreational boaters. A small Lights At The Lake event was started with campsites decorated in the holiday spirit began in 2021. And 2022 began with a new event, KOALA- Kites Over Awesome Lake Antoine.
The third Lights At The Lake was posted online by Upper Limits Media Lights at the Lake 2023 (youtube.com)
Our board members and friends plus generous business sponsors spend weekends in the summer putting on free movies in the evening.
Our primary fundraiser is the annual Crafty Flea Market with The Daily News 'Newspapers In Education' held the Saturday after Labor Day. Vendors fill the campsites and most years, the spaces quickly fill up.
If you want to be a vendor, contact Jennifer Flynn at 906-774-2772
New in 2021 were a number of projects.
One was several Saturdays with a FREE storytime program at the Wifi Cafe grounds next to the office building developed by the Dickinson County Library. And then there was the popular installation of a Kayak Launch
Plus... at the request of our citizens, LAPP developed the first ever Fall Fest in October 2021
Kites were flying over the lake in the winter of 2020
